Using Water to Record Trans-Images

I use a very simple method. For this I have several stainless steel bowls in varying sizes. I choose one of them and fill with water. The camera I use is a Canon PowerShot A3350 IS (this is now approximately 12+ years old but works very well). I choose the video setting. You can just take still shots but I use video and record for short 5 second bursts, I only take short clips as each one has to be gone through frame by frame, it would be too tedious to record for any longer. If I see anything of interest I just save it as a still shot.

I usually film in the evening and have an overhead ceiling light above the bowl. I have also experimented with placing a crystal in the water, I normally use an oval flat Obsidian for this. You can also use coloured lights – like battery operated Christmas lights to shine on the surface of the water, I have found this helps them to add skin tone/clothes colour etc. to their image.

When the bowl is filled with water, I gently ripple the surface of the water with one hand while filming the short video clips with my right.

The results can vary greatly, some sessions the images are amazing and clear, at other times it is possible to make out many small figures but they are too indistinct to use. As with all the experiments patience is a virtue. I did not get good results over night, it has taken perseverance and building up the energies over the last 14 years. I still get days where the results are quite disappointing, yet there are other days when I am amazed and thankful for what I am being shown.
