What Is EVP?
Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) are voices that are found in recordings that do not have any physical explanation. For example, some people have been testing a new digital recorder, they are the only person in the room yet on playback someone is speaking. Many of these voices are thought to be from deceased people. When this is repeated under more controlled conditions and the possibility of radio interference etc. has been ruled out you have an EVP.
Some EVP voices are very quiet and difficult to hear and some are very clear. We categorise these as Class A, B or C as follows…
Class A – Clear and can be understood by most people
Class B – Can be heard OK but not everyone will agree on what is being said
Class C – Can just about be heard but is difficult to understand
The majority of Morse EVP through the portal so far has all been Class A. However, the correct way to classify Morse is to use the RST reporting method as used in radio communication Morse reports. The number 1 being the poorest quality as follows…
R = Readability 1 to 5
S = Signal 1 to 9 (loudness)
T = Tone 1 to 9
Most portal Morse EVP therefore is 599
HOW TO RECORD EVP
Here is an explanation of the traditional way to capture EVP. This is how it’s done when you are not lucky enough to have a portal set up by technicians on the other side.

Please note: Persistence and the person doing the recording is more important than the equipment.
A simple, cheap recorder can be just as effective, if not more so, than a Lab full of expensive equipment. Alison is proof of this.
The equipment / digital recorder makes up 20% of the transmission circuit, the person who is recording is providing the human energy responsible for the other 80% to make it work. Also be PERSISENT and dedicated if you want success. It took Alison 2 years of dedicated recording before achieving the fantastic results we see today. It’s no wonder sceptics fail to reproduce similar results.
There are many things that you can do to increase your success when trying to record Electronic Voice Phenomena. The most important part is communicating to the people on the other side by telling them what you are doing and why you are recording. It is always important to explain to them what the recording device is for and where to speak into the microphone so that their voice can be recorded. Be mindful that some of the people who want to make contact with you may have died before recorders were invented.
Most recorders have a red light that is on while it is actually recording. This is a great way to tell the spirits where they should speak into the device in order for you to hear them. Tell them who you are and give the time, date and location for your records. Talk with belief that you know they are there and expect a response like when you speak to someone down the telephone. Don’t forget, you won’t hear anything until you play back the recording. Always remember to leave a short time period of say 10 seconds after each of your questions so they can respond.
Get yourself into a positive, good, happy frame of mind before recording. Some people play some uplifting music for ten minutes before recording to lighten their mood. Switch to record and say ” Hello my name is xxxxx, if there are any spirits here please speak into the recorder where the red light is, I can hear you on this device when I play it back” It is also helpful to say good bye when you get ready to quit recording. Sometimes the spirits will say bye back to you!
You can ask all sort of questions but don’t record for too long because the analysis afterwards can take much longer. You can spend an hour analysing a 2 minute recording if the EVP is very weak. Your first EVPs are likely to be very weak so you’ll need to listen with your headphones on. The more persistent you are and the more your energy link with the other side builds up the stronger your EVPs will become.
You can buy cheap digital recorders on ebay, the cheaper the better. I won’t go into technical detail here but basically the spirits use random audio frequencies (white noise) to generate recognisable speech patterns on your recorder. The cheap components generate more white noise. You can also experiment with added background random noise while recording such as a fan or running water.
For playback analysis you should use audio software. We would recommend using WavePad, you can download it for free on the Internet (Audacity is another good one). Then play your recordings into the software and you can save as computer files and analyse them on a spectrum analyser. Don’t worry, this is easier than it sounds and there’s plenty of helpful guides and advice on the Internet.
Some people these days are using Iphones and other SmartPhones to record EVP. However, the problem I see hear is modern phones have high quality components. So, if using a SmartPhone make sure you have some background white noise being recorded as well.
When recording always have a positive attitude! If you try to record EVP with a negative sceptical attitude you will have poor results or attract negative spirits. This is not because they are evil it is because they keep their human emotions and characteristics even in the afterlife. They are just people that no longer have their physical bodies and like us they get upset or even mad at those around them at different times. So we must think positive when trying to record EVP. Be upbeat and positive and you will have much better results and get messages with a lot more meaning to them.
