In this file Alison asks Rolf if he can give myself and my friend Peter (another Radio Ham with Morse experience) some assurance that they understand we have a military background. At this point Alison has no idea if Peter has any military connections. Also, please note that Alison has absolutely no idea what RAF Bases I have been stationed at.
The answer that comes back puzzles me at first as it looks like Latin (which it is).
I then did a simple google search, and it blew me away. Of course, silly me, every RAF Station has a unit badge (crest) with a Latin Motto. The motto USQUE AD COELUM FINES –”Extending as far as the sky” is for Royal Air Force Finningley. I was stationed there in 1987 and Peter had been there separately for training. Simply incredible !
